Naoussa, The City of Wine – Are you ready to meet it?

From December 13 to 15 Naoussa, the city of Wine and Flavors is revealed to you! A various schedule of events gives the opportunity to the audience to taste our fine local wine and our unique local flavors! The event is organized with the support of Naoussa International Film Festival.
The Wine and Vine Museum is opening its doors to welcome Naoussa΄s wine makers and local products producers. At the exhibition which will be held at the Museum, visitors will have the chance to taste Naoussa΄s xinomavro in wine tastings and local flavors which match harmoniously with the local wine. Furthermore, people will have the opportunity to learn about the history of wine in Naoussa through the exhibits which are exposed at the Museum.
In addition, an open discussion will be carried out about xinomavro΄s future with many eminent and important people taking part in it, as well as wine producers of Naoussa΄s region and other regions where xinomavro is cultivated (Amyntaio, Rapsani, Goumenissa, Velvento).
Moreover, a deluxe printed edition will be presented in which ideal food combinations with xinomavro are recommended. In this way, we pursue to connect the local wine with the local flavors, thus compose the image of Naoussa of Wine and Flavors and promote Naoussa as the ideal gastronomic destination.
During the event, a cooking contest “Seeking for the tasty companions of xinomavro”, will be carried out and cuisine lovers are invited to create the dish that makes a delicious combination with the local wine. The best dishes will win the best awards.
The distinguished chef Diane Kochila will present a cooking seminar in which she will recommend the ideal food combinations for xinomavro. Mrs Kochila will cook live at the event and reveal us all the secrets of the art of cooking.
Chef Dimitris Mantsios will carry out an educational-entertaining programme for our young chefs, where they will have the chance to create by cooking and learn about the importance of healthy nutrition throughout games.
Cinema lovers are going to watch the exceptional movie “Chocolat” accompanied with an unexpected tasty combination. Chocolate drink with xinomavro! Lastly, during the event a documentary about the wine tradition in Greece will be shown.
Excursion to Mount Vermion and hike to Profitis Ilias for xinomavro winetasting. The participants will be compensated from our exceptional local wine tasting and baked delicacies.
Naoussa΄ s Xinomavro wine will be honoured at restaurants and café-bars and the winemakers of the region will be waiting the visitors in order to induct them in the secrets of good winemaking. Finally, for our little friends special activities will be designed.
The initiative "Naoussa – the Wine City" aims to unite in a common effort the region΄s winemakers, creators of local flavors, businessmen of entertainment and food sectors and aspires to contribute significantly to the promotion of the unique local wine variety of Xinomavro. Furthermore, our goal is to bring the broader audiences closer to Naoussa΄s wine and flavors through the organization of a multifarious event which will designate Naoussa as a principal wine and gastronomic destination by presenting actions of educational, cultural and entertaining character.
