PGI Trifilia

In the district of Messinia, in Peloponnese’s southwestern part, the PGI Trifilia zone (est.1989) comprises the municipalities of Aetos, Avlona, Gargaliani, Dorio, Era, Kyparissia, Nestoras and Filiatra, and the community of Tripyla. Zone vineyards must be planted at altitudes ranging from 50 to 300 meters.

The PGI Trifilia vineyards are in the northwestern part of the district of Messinia. The zone is one of Messinia’s most significant winegrowing areas and has a long tradition in the successful cultivation of foreign red varieties whose grapes are also channeled to many wineries outside the zone. There are seven area wineries producing PGI Trifilia wines.
