PGI Imathia

The PGI Imathia zone (est.1996) comprises the homonymous district in central Macedonia.

Imathia is mostly known for its PDO Naoussa red wine. However, thanks to the area’s winegrowing tradition and by means of the appropriate methods (white vinification), the Xinomavro variety can now yield good quality white wines as well. This new practice, together with the successful cultivation of international varieties and their subsequent blending with Xinomavro, made the establishment of the PGI Imathia zone a necessity. Today, PGI Imathia wines are some of most highly acclaimed PGI wines of
Greece and are produced by 14 wineries.
