One of the most important vineyards in Greece, the Nemea vineyards which produce PDO Nemea wines from the red Agiorgitiko variety, is located in Korinthia, in the northeastern section of the Peloponnese. The Nemea-Agiorgitiko connection is one of the most popular and well-loved among consumers. Of particular interest to those who embark on wine tourism in Korinthia-Argolida is that the Nemea vineyard surrounds the area of ancient Nemea and its fascinating museum. Near and around Nemea are many monuments and interesting places to visit, such as ancient Korinthos and its museum, the Historical and Folklore Museum of Corinth, ancient Sikyon, Acrocorinth, the Archaeological Museum of Isthmia and the Environment Museum of Stymfalia. Even though the Nemea region does not offer the best tourism facilities, travellers can surely find a suitable solution nearby at the popular resort of Loutraki, in the mountainous areas of Korinthia and of course in Nafplio, from where excursions to the Argolida region are easily undertaken. Argolida, where the PGI Argolida wines are produced, is a popular tourism destination and features many important archaeological sites, such as the archaeological site of Mycenae and its museum, the archaeological site of Tiryns, the Sanctuary of Asklepios at Epidaurus and the famous theatre, where performances take place as part of the Athens and Epidaurus Festival, the museum, the archaeological site of Midea, the Heraion and the ancient theatre of Argos, where performances also take place. In beautiful Nafplio, visitors can see, among other things, the fortress of Palamidi, the island of Bourtzi and the Archaeological Museum of Nafplio.
